Class Descriptions

Stretch & Strength

This is a class we created that encompasses the Nova Dance Co Method that is essential for your child’s technical growth. In this fun and challenging class we will work with your children using various tools. We will be using bands, blocks, ankle weights, and more to help strengthen their muscles, improve their form, and overall give them a beautiful technique that will show in their dancing.

Jazz Tech/Combo

Jazz is a highly technical and energetic style of dance. In this class we introduce choreography while maintaining the methods learned in stretch and strength. Each week your dancer will learn new technique and use it in short combinations across and center floor.

Kicks & Tricks

In today’s dance world having a speciality skill sets you apart from the average dancer. We created Kicks and Tricks to enhance our students’ dance repertoire. By the end of the season they will be able to do dive rolls, angel jumps, and a whole variety of other
“bendy” things.

Turns & Jumps

As another crucial class in the Nova Dance Co Method, this class will often go back to the basics. Each instructor will emphasize correct form and perfect things like high relevés and posture. By the end of this class your dancer will advance in skills such as pirouettes and jetés.

Hip/Hop

This style of dance is all about freedom, attitude, and street-style movements. It’s high-energy and often improvisational. This class will be more about musicality and rhythm over technique.

Contemporary/Lyrical

This artform combines the strict format of Ballet mixed with the fluidity of Modern Dance. It focuses on unpredictable changes in rhythm, speed, and direction. This class will predominantly be center floor choreography.

Ballet

An artistic dance form based on an elaborate formal technique, characterized by gestures and movements of grace, precision, and fluidity.

Mat Pilates

Mat Pilates is a strengthening and lengthening form of exercise that focuses on your core (trunk) muscles while also training your arms and legs.
